CHRIS CHUBB

Multidisciplinary abstract artist, Chris Chubb, focuses on themes of horizons and their illusory essence. He draws inspiration from the majesty of nature, light, geometric forms, color, and the divinity underlying it all. Using acrylics, he explores how these elements may mingle, uncluttered, on the smooth wood panel canvas providing the viewer with an opportunity for contemplation.
Drawn to creative making from an early age, Chris is a self-taught artist and designer. His artistic spark was first ignited with drawing and painting. Receiving encouragement, he furthered his studies at the University of Southern California and Georgia Tech where he received his Bachelor of Architecture. With a distinguished career as a professional architect spanning over two decades. Chubb's extensive training and diverse experience have fostered an extraordinary foundation for his artistic endeavors, seamlessly bridging the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM). For Chris, each piece is constructed of elements intended to transport the viewer beyond the material plane and towards tranquility and contemplation.
In 2023, Chris marked his first solo exhibition, titled Horizons in downtown Tallahassee. He also recently joined an esteemed group of juried international artists when his sculpture Quantum Reef that was chosen to join the nation’s first Underwater Museum of Art (UMA). In the summer of 2023, Quantum Reef will be deployed into the Gulf of Mexico 58 feet below the surface to join the UMA sculpture garden.  There it will form an artificial reef system off the coast of Grayton Beach State Park providing much-needed habitat for marine life. Chris currently resides with his wife in Tallahassee, FL.
